Sarah Holmes

Counsellor

I’m a person-centred counsellor offering a gentle, humanistic approach to therapy that’s all about you — your thoughts, your feelings, and your unique experience. At the heart of this approach is the idea that you are the expert on your own life. My role as your counsellor is not to give advice or tell you what to do, but to offer a safe, supportive space where you feel truly heard and understood.

I believe the relationship between us is key. It’s not just about talking — it’s about building trust, feeling at ease, and knowing that this is a space where you can bring whatever’s on your mind. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, past experiences, or simply feeling stuck or overwhelmed, I’m here to walk alongside you and help you explore what’s going on at your own pace.

In our sessions, there’s no set agenda or list of questions. You lead the way, and I follow your pace. Sometimes we might sit with big emotions, and other times we might reflect on smaller, everyday moments — both can be powerful. I’ll offer reflections, ask gentle questions, and help you make sense of things, but always with respect for your process.

Many people find that person-centred counselling helps them connect more deeply with themselves, understand their feelings better, and feel more confident in who they are. It’s not about fixing you — because I don’t believe you’re broken — it’s about creating the right conditions for growth and change to happen naturally. My aim is to offer a warm, welcoming space where you can feel comfortable being yourself, however that looks. Taking that first step can feel daunting, but you’re not alone — and you don’t have to have everything figured out. If you choose to work with me, I’ll meet you where you are, with empathy, patience, and care.
